Day 1: We start with one hour of getting the basics in place. This entails setting up your equipment, safety features and updating your kite flying skills with a small 2m trainer kite. When the instructor feels you are ready, you will head to the water. Here you will learn to properly fly the inflatable kite, body drag and how to re-launch with ease, if you crash your kite in the water. On day one you should be comfortable flying the kite, know what to do in any situation of distress and re-launch with ease. Please note if you are not comfortable or in control of flying kite on day one, will we continue with the necessary training before we can proceed to board starts.
Day 2: Day two is completely dedicated to the board. After mastering kite flying, you will now be ready for your first board starts. Day two will introduce you to the real feeling of gliding on the water and the the true nature of kitesurfing. All basics and training of day one will now be used to attempt your first water-starts.
Objective
The kitesurfing lessons with personal instructor aim to get you riding in both directions, how to read the conditions and use your equipment safely and correctly. Please note that the learning period for each individual can vary from two days of beginners lessons to 10 days of beginner kitesurfing lessons. Book two days, if you feel you are great at learning new sports and have board sport experience. Book more days, if you feel you are not accustomed to extreme sports. Two to three days is usually a good starting point.
Equipment
All equipment is included such as wetsuits, harnesses, kites, boards and safety equipment (helmets and impact jackets). We use radios for easy communication between the instructor and the student, therefore, your instructor’s voice will always be next to you giving you expert advice and ensuring a quality lesson. We only use the latest kites.
Conditions
For the conditions to be suitable, we will need more than 15 knots of wind. Kite Lab will contact you one day in advance to keep you updated regarding conditions and starting times. If, however, you are unlucky with wind conditions, we will reschedule on the next available date. If you are here on holiday and only have these dates available, we will refund you or issue a voucher for your next date available.
