Objective
The goal of this 2-day beginners kitesurfing course is to help you gain confidence flying power kites, with a strong emphasis on safety, technique, and equipment knowledge. By the end of your lessons, you’ll be ready to attempt your first water starts—bringing together both kite and board skills.
Day 1 – Learning to fly the kite: Your first day of kitesurfing lessons for beginners starts with a short theory session covering kite control, wind awareness, safety, and setting up your gear. You’ll learn to read the wind and identify safe practice areas—crucial skills for any kite surfer. We’ll then move into practical flying. Depending on the wind, you’ll start with either a small 2m foil kite or a small inflatable kite to get your first feel for the wind. As your confidence builds, we’ll introduce a larger inflatable kite and teach techniques like power strokes, relaunching, and safe landings. Only once you’ve mastered kite control will we move on to the next step—your first board starts.
Day 2 – First water starts & real kitesurfing experience: With your kite skills locked in, day two focuses entirely on board work. It’s time to experience what beginner kitesurfing lessons are all about—gliding across the water and feeling the thrill of true kitesurfing. Everything you’ve learned—kite control, power management, safety—now comes into play as you attempt your first water starts. We won’t lie: it won’t be easy. But nothing this epic ever is. Expect some wipeouts, plenty of laughs, and maybe even a few faceplants. But by the end of the day, you’ll be one big step closer to becoming an independent kitesurfer.
Equipment and expert instructions for new kitesurfers
All necessary equipment is included—wetsuits, harnesses, kites, boards, and safety gear like helmets and impact vests. Using radio communication, our instructors offer real-time guidance, ensuring a smooth and high-quality learning experience throughout your intro to kitesurfing.
Wind conditions and flexible scheduling
To deliver the best results for our beginner kitesurfing lessons, we require a minimum of 12 knots on Day 1 and 15 knots or more on Day 2. Kite Lab will update you on the forecast one day in advance and confirm your lesson time.
If the conditions aren’t right, we’ll happily reschedule or offer a full refund or voucher—ideal for visitors with limited time.
